I disagree. Standardized aren't harmful to education in America. They were actually designed to see what the students have learned, if they learned anything at all, all year. I don't agree with how it is weighted but I believe it is a good idea. A lot of people my age group might disagree with me but I passed FCAT!! :)
As a teacher, I do not like standardized tests. By testing every student the same way with the same test, we are saying that every student learns the same and achieves the same things; which is false. Now, there should definitely be a test to measure progress and whether or not they are learning but I don't think it needs to be mainstreamed.
